The free Thumbnail me application takes the video you select and generates an image with thumbnail shots from that video. Load a video, adjust a few settings if you want to, let Thumbnail me do its job, and moments later you will have an image made up of thumbnail shots from your video.

You can install the application on 32 and 64-bit editions of Windows and GNU/Linux. The installation file for Windows is little over 12MB in size. The setup wizard that guides you through the installation process asks you to choose one of several supported languages (English, French, German, Spanish) and to pick the installation directory. In but a moment you will be done with the whole process and you’ll be able to start using Thumbnail me on your PC.

The Thumbnail me interface is divided into three sections. In the upper left you have the Configuration pane that lets you play with a few settings and thus tell the application what you want to get. Down at the bottom you have the Input and Output pane that you can use to load a video file, preview it, and start the process of creating thumbnails from that video. A preview of what you will end up with is presented in the large pane in the upper right hand corner.

Using Thumbnail me is a simple 3-step process that goes something like this:
Step 1 – load a video file into the application. It provides support for AVI, MKV, TS, M2TS, MPEG, MPG, MP4, VOB, DAT, WMV, OGG, 3GP, MOV, FLV, and SWF.
Step 2 – choose how you want the thumbnail image to look (how many rows and columns, the font for the text, timestamp, and more) and pick the output format (JPEG, BMP, PNG, TIFF).
Step 3 – Let Thumbnail me do its job. Once it’s done, it will present the output image to you and invite you to upload it to ImageShack.

As it is released under a GNU General Public License, Thumbnail me is free. Please make a donation to help support the application’s development.

Thumbnail me works as advertised and does its job quickly. It takes the video you specify and quickly creates an image with thumbnail shots from that video.

Pros

Thumbnail me is available for Windows and Linux. Support for multiple languages, video formats, and image file types is provided. Thumbnail me is very easy to use. Load a video into the application and come up with an image that features thumbnail shots from the video. Thumbnail me is free (consider making a donation).

Cons

None that I could think of.
